North Carolina Medicaid Mandate:
NC HealthConnex Participation Required

ATTENTION: Does your practice see ANY Medicaid patients? If so, please read below as the following important information pertains to your Medicaid reimbursements.

As part of TSI Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to equip you with the necessary tools to meet all state and federal reporting requirements, we are reaching out with information and next steps regarding the North Carolina Medicaid NC HealthConnex mandate. Please complete and return the order form to TSI Healthcare by March 1, 2018.

Background:
North Carolina Providers Who Accept Medicaid:

• In 2015, the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation that requires all healthcare providers in North Carolina who accept Medicaid to connect to the North Carolina Health Information Exchange (HIE), NC HealthConnex, by June 1, 2018.
• Providers will NOT receive reimbursements for Medicaid services if they are not connected to the NC HealthConnex by June 1, 2018.

All Other State-Funded Entities:

• All other state-funded entities that provide health services (local management entities, managed care organizations, etc.) must be connected to the NC HealthConnex by June 1, 2019.

What are my Options?
The NC HIE’s standard recommendation is to connect to NC HealthConnex via a bi-directional interface bundle. TSI Healthcare has completed extensive research to identify additional methods of connectivity, allowing you to choose the most cost-effective option for your practice.

Option 1 (TSI Healthcare Recommended): Ability to Send Data Only (via Read-Only Connectivity)
Benefits:

• Reduced Cost
• Streamlined Integration

Option 2: Ability to Send and Retrieve Data (via “EHR Connect C” Interface Bundle)
Benefits:

• Access to Public Health Registries: Multiple registries currently in pilot phases will soon be available to participants
• Direct Messaging: Ability to send encrypted direct messages to other Health Information Service Providers
• Access to Patient Information: Information regarding patient care from outside provider organizations (lab results, diagnostic studies, clinical documents, etc.)

Action Required
In order to confirm that you are connected in time to meet all reporting deadlines, please complete and return this order form to TSI Healthcare by March 1, 2018. Failure to do so will impact your practice’s ability to meet this requirement.
