As the healthcare landscape shifts from a volume-based model to a value-based model, physicians must learn to control cost and improve the quality of patient care. This shift has posed a serious challenge for practices since many patient engagement and payment systems require a manual workflow process for office staff. As your moves forward in 2017, are you confident that you will be able to meet new healthcare standards, increase revenues, automate engagement, and improve quality of patient care? If you are worried about the coming year, the solution is simple: Population Health. In our recent webinar, Population Health: Automated Engagement for Enhanced Patient Care, we revealed how Population Health can help practices like yours:

During the webinar, we also had the opportunity to hear from Maria Shafer, Front Desk Supervisor at Central Florida Retina, about her practice’s success with Population Health. Take a look below to see actual statistics from TSI Healthcare clients using Population Health.

As part of TSI Healthcare’s commitment to preparing your practice for the new shift in payment models, we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) from the webinar, featured below. To hear our entire webinar and get an in-depth look at all of the benefits of employing Population Health at your practice, click here.

  1. Q: Can we control the number of patients contacted per day?
A: Yes, you will be able control the number of patients are contacted per day. You will also be able to set the number of patients contacted for an individual provider. In fact, after using Population Heath to fill participant slots for a clinical trial, one of TSI Healthcare’s clients placed such a limit on the number of notifications being issued because participant slots were filled in just two days.
  2. Q: Is this new service going to replace Automated Patient Reminders (APR)?
A: Population Health will not replace APR, but rather work with APR. Population Health will find the patients you would like to contact and, if you integrate with APR, it will use APR to send out those notifications via phone calls or SMS text messages at a scheduled time each day.
  3. Q: How will Population Health show us which patients were contacted or due to be contacted?
A: Population Health will create chart alerts in your NextGen Practice Management (EPM) system for each patient identified as due for a follow-up appointment. When patients call in to schedule their appointment, your staff can open the patient’s EPM chart to determine what the patient is due for. In NextGen Version 5.8 UD2 and higher the alerts will also display in the patients NextGen EHR chart. If the patient is identified for multiple campaigns at the same time the patient can be combined into one alert. In addition to chart alerts, Population Health also has reports that you can run to view which patients have been contacted and which patients are queued up to be contacted.
  4. Q: I’m interested in Population Health but am not sure how my practice can use this? Any suggestions?
A: Absolutely! TSI Healthcare has helped many practices successfully implement Population Health, and we maintain an ongoing campaign library of different ways practices are using this module. As a part of your kick off call, we will discuss ideas to get your practice to start thinking about the various ways to use Population Health to benefit your patient populations.
  5. Q: Do you have suggestions about how to get my provider to invest in and get excited about Population Health?
A: Yes, once your practice has the module it is easy to keep providers on board because of the comprehensive reports and quick return on investment. The sky is the limit when it comes to creating various rules. In fact, TSI Healthcare constantly maintains and updates a library filled with examples that your practice can utilize. Examples of these rules include patient recall, patient no show, and identifying patients for clinical studies.
