Request To Adjust Encounter Lock Interval
ITEMS TO CONSIDER WHENÂ CHANGING THE ENCOUNTER LOCK INTERVAL
The encounter lock interval represents the amount of time from when an encounter is created to when it is automatically locked by the system. Locked encounters prevent users from making any changes to the information included in that encounter.
Considerations:
-Automatic locking helps prevent users from accidentally documenting on the wrong encounter date.
-Automatic locking can trigger the automatic upload of Personal Health Record to NextGen Patient Portal for patients actively enrolled.
-Automatic locking can trigger the automatic upload of encounter data to CE City registries.
-All encounters automatically lock based on your selected interval time frame. All documentation, including the generation of documents for that encounter, must be completed prior to the lock interval.
-All telephone call templates automatically lock based on interval time frame. All documentation for telephone calls must be completed prior to the lock interval.
-Weekends and holidays DO count as part of the lock interval.
-Practices should allow enough time for documentation to be completed without relying on users unlocking and locking encounters.
-Automatic locking impacts encounters for the entire practice, not just one user.
